HALE AND HEARTY: EXPERT TALK ON -AIKIDO TO HARMONIZE LIFE

For many people, martial arts is an integral part of life. People practice martial arts as a sport, a hobby, an artistic expression or a regimen for physical, mental and emotional well-being. Skills learned in the study of martial arts can be applied in other aspects and relationships in life.


In today’s times, when mental health is taking a beating, Martial arts, equip practitioners to forget their daily struggles and get stronger day by day. Recognizing the significance of this thought in mind, the Bangalore Warrier Samajam recently conducted another informative Expert talk as part of its monthly series. The subject of the talk was Aikido to Harmonize Life and the presenter was Mr. Hari Prasad K V.

HARI PRASAD K V

One of the founding members of BWS, Hari Prasad K V is a project management expert who currently holds the positions of chief of staff and director of operations for Intellectual Property at Intel. He is originally from Keralassery,Palakkad, and has been a resident of Bangalore since 1998

Mr Hari Prasad commenced his session by greeting everyone in German (Wilkommen). Subsequently, he discussed Japanese martial arts, Aikido and its subtopic, five principles and application of Aikido and problem-solving for students for life. The session was informative as he spoke about real-life cases and stressed the non-physical or spiritual aspects of martial arts. He discussed different combat styles that incorporate a systematic approach to training compacts.










Afterwards, he talked about both armed and unarmed versions of the same thing. He offered his advice on how to avoid jumping to problems with instant solutions. Instead, he advised us to learn the problem first. If we understand the problem, we can proceed accordingly. He instructed us to concentrate on the problem, not the individual involved, and use the 5 why approach. Correct solutions can be obtained by finishing 5 ‘Whys’ during problems, and then he discussed ways to help students find solutions in their lives.

In closing, he emphasized the following Aikido tenets: the scope of effectiveness, the hypothesis of circular motion, the hypothesis of oneness and a true victory in victory oneself. Additionally, he pledged to hold a physical session very soon.
